Blue World

Been a while. Here's a little landscape I felt like drawing tonight for an art challenge a friend has going. The lore drake figure looks ......... doofy. Ugh. Whatever, he's just there for scale.

This actually has to do with the Legends of Destiny, but I don't want to give away any spoilers. Sorry. Tired tonight. Been really busy lately and dealing with a lot of stuff.

It's probably been about ten years since I've played with any of my vinyl sheets. This is just a quick one I cut out last night with my exacto knife pen.

The Meaning of the Name

Well, I'm not dead. But somehow, my personal life has gone from bad to worse. Funny how that happens.

If your memory is sharp, you may remember this. What did I tell you? It never got finished, just like every other picture of this that I have tried to draw......except for this one. I kept it loose and messy on purpose in hopes that I would enjoy it more.

Alright, you're probably wondering, "The meaning of what name?"

The answer is - my name. Taelifoe.

So some years ago, after I was out of high school, I had a dream that left a strong impression on me. To sum it up, I dreamed that I was one of three angels of judgment at the end of the world, and I was dressed all in red. Not long after I woke, I tried to think of a name for that representation of myself, and the name "Taelifoe" popped clearly into my head. Since then, the name has stuck. This is also where my favorite color, crimson, began to develop. It's rare that you will see me attach my screen name to this angelic persona online, but I figured some history might be fun.

And on a side note, this is also where my gamertag came from, but that's for another time.

Another one, this time based on what the sky outside actually looked like at the time. It's been raining off and on today, and rainclouds always make for a nice sunset, in my opinion. I glanced up at the sky, thought, "Hey, I can paint that!" then grabbed my laptop and tablet and hauled fanny to the back porch to sit down and paint. It's not as great as what the sky actually looked like, but this is the first time I've attempted to sit down and hurry and sketch something I'm looking at with my tablet.

I really enjoy sketching things quickly like this before they're gone. I've done some pencil sketches of both cats and people, neither one of which is inclined to sit still for very long, but there's always a thrill when you successfully get something down on paper before it moves ..... or on screen, in this case.

I think even a year ago, I would have felt strained if I were to attempt an exercise like this. It's been enjoyable (and encouraging!) to see how much I've been able to grow in my art in the last several years. Even in highschool, my range of what I was comfortable with drawing and what I was capable of drawing was fairly limited. It probably helps that I've felt more enthusiastic lately to try different techniques and challenges.

Here's the remainder of the sketches I did as freebies. I wish I'd thought sooner to suggest that if people wanted line art without color, they should tell me so. I was too happy to go in and scribble color on most of these :/

Head sketches!

Today (yesterday) I offered to do some free head sketches on Livejournal. The purpose was to possibly earn tips to help me save up for my new tent, but it's also been a good chance for some practice. Here's the results of the first round. Wheeee doggies!

You know it's far too late to be up when you multiply 3 by 3 and get 12........Also, I can't seem to spell.
