Power...

Playing with pose and perspective in this thumbnail. I have to say that I like the pose, but the perspective is a little off. I'm thinking I may have to shift the "floor" a bit further up into the picture to get more of the effect I'm looking for. The race that this creature hails from is known for its arrogance, so I tried giving him a stuck up, disinterested attitude - you know, kind of like when some snot is purposefully ignoring everything you say just to tick you off.

There are a couple of elements here that make this picture different from the other Neth drawings I've been putting up. The differences are turning out to be both fun to work with and challenging, and here's what they are:

First, this guy has actual flames around his hand, rather than an orb of light in his grasp. Second, I'm trying to incorporate something more solid than smoke/mist into his surroundings, which is also different from the other Neth thumbnails I've been doing. Both of these differences are for particular reasons, though I don't think I can really say anything else about them just yet. This character could possibly show up in a project some time in the future, however near or far that may be, and I don't want to spoil things. Sorry!

You should hear her OTHER songs....

Remember kids, always wear eye protection when dabbling with explosive science!

(And yes, I know full well that alkaline metals react to water. Just humor me)

Strike a pose

Here are a couple more drawings of my avatar. Just trying to get some different views of it here for reference.....or because I was bored......take your pick :)

I was going to add at least one other figure to this sheet, but I've noticed the last few days that I've been running out of artistic steam, so I think I should take a week to recharge. Plus, my hand is cramping something awful (I never learn) so I should probably give it as much of a vacation as I can.

The Mage and the Martial Artist

Done for my half of a trade with Xenithar. These are a couple of her characters that she wanted drawn. I had a lot of fun with the lighting here and the kicked-back mood, though I do wish I could have gotten the background darker. I guess that's one of the compromises you make when you use colored pencil, but it still turned out pretty good.

Done with graphite pencils (3B and 6B) and colored pencils. Characters are copyright S. A. Thorup.

You make me sick!

Sorry, just a little bit of vent art. I apologize up front if it is too graphic for anyone :D

And yes, they do make me sick. I think they're in league....

Yellow

I had three different photos to choose from for "yellow". What a hard decision! This is the last of my rainbow pictures.

Taken near Strawberry Reservoir in the Fall. The spot I was standing it was this glorious swath of golden leaves everywhere you looked - and I do mean everywhere. Leaves and sunshine above you, beside you, behind you, in front of you, even leaves on the ground. It was beautiful.

Shadowed...

I forgot I had this one. Still playing with some things on the lighting, and I was going to put that hand in a different position, but the more I look at it, the more I like it how it is right now.

I could have done green lighting in the middle area or the clouds to help add to the green of the eyes, but I don't want it to look like a Christmas-themed image.....although, that would be kind of a nightmarish Christmas. Eh, sometimes that time of year is like a nightmare for me, I guess. Depends on how much I'm forced to overdose on candy and elves and red-and-green stripes.

Happily, however, this guy is not an elf. Go team villain!

Riley badge

You know, you'd think that with how long scanning devices have been around, the engineers behind them would be able to fix it so that they don't destroy so much of the color they're scanning.....Well, truth be told, my scanner is actually pretty good. I just need to figure out how to use the filters on it better.

Another badge done for the conbadge community, this time for Riley Costello. I had unbelievable fun with this one, partly because of the colors, partly because it was a cat and partly because of the pose. Yeah, I'm pretty proud of that pose. I don't do many like it and it came out shwell. Took me perhapse 3-4 hours to do, I think, which is not including the time I spent working on concept sketches. So if you thought you were a slow artist.....don't worry, lol. I like to take my time.
